Alzheimers Disease (AD), a subtype of Dementia, is one of the most feared brain diseases. 5.5 million Americans are diagnosed with . It is the only chronic disease that is increasing and not decreasing. Cases are expected to triple by 2050.
Unfortunately medicine has no meaningful treatment and there have been no new medications since 2003.
The good news about AD is that in the last 15 years there has been tremendous strides and advancements in our understanding of the influence of nutrition and lifestyle factors on dementia and brain health in general
Thanks to Dr. Dale Bredeson MD, Neuroscientists and Alzheimer Specialist, AD and other researchers. They have found that AD can be delayed and, in many cases, be prevented and sometimes even reversed through lifestyle and nutrition interventions.
Dr Bredesen uses the analogy of 36 holes in a roof that need to be plugged up as a way to describe how we should address AD. The more holes you can plug the better.
Taking steps ( plugging up the holes in the roof ) to improve the health of our brains, will prevent or reverse inflammation in the brain and can help prevent AD and improve our brain health overall.
